Your data rights
Your data is yours. Here’s how to use that.
Last updated: 3 August 2026
GrownUps is in development. Until the app launches, the part of this that is actually operating is the website — the waitlist form, the contact form and site analytics. The sections describing the app explain how it will handle your information once it is available.
The rights you have
- Access — a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Portability / export — your data in a common, machine-readable format. In the app this is free, forever.
- Deletion — erase your account and personal data, subject to the narrow retention rules below.
- Correction — fix anything inaccurate.
- Objection & restriction — ask us to stop or limit certain processing.
- Withdraw consent — for anything you previously opted into, including analytics cookies, at any time.
- Complain — to your data-protection regulator if you think we’ve got it wrong.
How to export your data
When the app is live, you export everything in your account yourself, from the app’s settings — no request, no fee, no waiting on us. Right now, during the waitlist period, the only personal data we hold about you is your email address (and optional country) on the waitlist, or a message you sent us through the contact form. To get a copy, email privacy@grownups.app and we’ll send it.
How to delete your data
In the app, deleting your account is a real deletion you control from settings. For the waitlist, you can unsubscribe from any email we send with one click, or email privacy@grownups.app and we’ll remove your address. We don’t make you jump through hoops, and we don’t charge you.
What we keep after deletion, and why
We aim to delete promptly. A few things can be retained briefly and for a specific reason: content that belongs to a shared record with your co-parent isn’t unilaterally erasable by one parent (the other parent has a legitimate interest in the record you both created); backups roll off on their normal cycle; and we may keep the minimum needed to meet a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, or enforce our terms. We keep as little as possible, for as short as possible, and we can tell you what and why.
How long it takes
App exports and deletions are immediate — you do them yourself. For anything you email us, we respond within 30 days, and usually much sooner. If a request is unusually complex we’ll tell you, and why.
Verifying it’s really you
Because this is sensitive information, we confirm a request comes from the account holder before we act on it — normally by asking you to send the request from the email address on the account. We won’t hand your data to someone who isn’t you, including a co-parent.
Where you live
These rights apply to everyone. If you’re in the UK or EU, they’re your rights under the UK GDPR / GDPR, and you can complain to your national regulator. In California, you have the CCPA/CPRA rights to know, delete, correct and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” — and we don’t sell or share your personal information, so there’s nothing to opt out of. In Australia, the Australian Privacy Principles give you access and correction rights. The privacy policy has the formal detail.
