Terms of service

These are the terms for using GrownUps. We’ve kept them as plain as terms can be. Using the site or the app means you agree to them.

GrownUps is in development. Until the app launches, the part of this that is actually operating is the website — the waitlist form, the contact form and site analytics. The sections describing the app explain how it will handle your information once it is available.

1. Who we are, and accepting these terms

GrownUps is operated by GrownUps (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old to hold a GrownUps account. You’re responsible for the information you add about your children and for having the right to add it.

3. What the service is

GrownUps is a co-parenting app: a shared custody calendar, messaging, handovers, shared expenses, documents and a clear record, for two households. The app is currently in development; the website and the waitlist are what is operating today. We may add, change or remove features as the product develops.

4. Your account and security

Keep your login details private and your account secure — turn on two-factor authentication and the app lock if you can. You’re responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

5. Using it properly

Use GrownUps for its purpose — coordinating your own co-parenting. Don’t use it to harass, threaten or abuse another person; don’t upload unlawful content; don’t try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the service; and don’t use it to infringe someone else’s rights. We can suspend or remove accounts that do.

6. Your content, and the shared record

You own the content you create. You give us the limited permission we need to store it, show it to the co-parent it’s meant for, and process it to run features you use (including generating exports and reports). Some content forms a shared record between co-parents — for example, messages you’ve sent to each other. Because that record belongs to both of you, one parent can’t unilaterally alter or erase the other’s copy of it. You can always export your own data, free.

7. Payments

The core of GrownUps is free. Some optional things cost money — a polished, formatted PDF report, or an optional subscription with extra features. When those are available, we’ll show the price clearly before you pay, and any subscription can be cancelled in the app, in one place. We’ll set out refunds, renewals and cancellations plainly at the point of purchase.

8. Not legal advice, and no guarantee of admissibility

This is important. GrownUps helps you keep a clear, tamper-evident record — but nothing in the app or on this site is legal advice, and we make no guarantee that any record or export is “court-approved” or admissible in any court or proceeding. Whether a record can be used, and how, is a matter for a court and for the law in your jurisdiction. If you need legal advice, please speak to a qualified professional where you live.

9. The service is provided “as is”

We work hard to make GrownUps reliable, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We don’t promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

11. Indemnification

If your misuse of the service, or your breach of these terms, causes a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs we incur as a result, to the extent the law allows.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using GrownUps and delete your account at any time — see your data rights. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or the law, and we’ll act proportionately.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. We’ll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you directly. Continuing to use GrownUps after a change means the new terms apply.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [governing-law jurisdiction — to be confirmed by GrownUps], and disputes will be handled by the courts of that jurisdiction, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law where you live gives you a different right. We’d always rather sort a problem out directly first — please contact us.
