FAQ

Questions parents actually ask.

GrownUps is in development. Leave your email and we’ll tell you the day it’s ready — that’s the only email you’ll get.

Is GrownUps really free?

Yes. The custody calendar, messages, handovers, expenses, documents, child info and reminders are free for both parents, with no per-parent fee and no trial. Exporting your data is free forever. Polished court-style PDF reports cost a few dollars each, only if you want one.

Does my co-parent have to join before I can use it?

No. Every feature works for one parent alone. Set up your children and your schedule now; if your co-parent joins later, everything lines up automatically. If they never join, GrownUps still works.

Can GrownUps staff read my messages?

No. Message bodies are encrypted with a key held for your family, and our admin tools are built so that staff cannot read message content — the admin code cannot reference it, and an automated test fails the build if that ever changes.

Is GrownUps end-to-end encrypted?

No, and we won’t say it is. Your content is encrypted in transit and at rest, with a separate key per family. It is not end-to-end encrypted, because the server needs to be able to produce your export, your integrity check and your reports.

Can I use GrownUps records in court?

GrownUps keeps a tamper-evident record you can export, and generates formatted PDFs with an integrity-verification page. Whether any record is admitted is a matter for a court in your jurisdiction — we make no claim to be court approved or court certified.

Does GrownUps track my location?

No. There is no continuous location, no background location and no geofencing. The only location GrownUps ever records is a single snapshot at the moment you choose to attach one to a handover confirmation, and declining still gives you a complete confirmation.

Which custody schedules does it support?

Alternating weeks (7/7), 2-2-3, 2-2-5-5, every-week-same, and any custom cycle up to 28 days, anchored to a start date with a changeover time. Single-day and date-range overrides sit on top.

Can my co-parent delete a message?

No. Messages cannot be edited or deleted by either parent, or by us.

Can I get my data out?

Yes, free, at any time, forever — a ZIP with your data as structured files, your documents, your expenses as a CSV and your full message transcript.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Personal data is erased or anonymised and hard deletion completes within 30 days, including stored files. Shared records your co-parent co-owns are kept with you anonymised as “Former co-parent” — we tell you that before you confirm.

How is this different from OurFamilyWizard or TalkingParents?

They charge each parent a yearly subscription and most features need both parents subscribed. GrownUps is free, works for one parent alone, and never charges you to export or keep your own record. Full comparison.

Is there a web version?

Not for parents. GrownUps is a mobile app for iPhone and Android. The custody calendar can be subscribed to in Apple or Google Calendar via a private link.

Do you have a version for lawyers or mediators?

Not yet. Professional read-access is planned; today the way to share is to export or generate a report and send it.

Is it available in the UK and Australia?

Yes — GrownUps will work anywhere. At launch it will be on the App Store and Google Play in the US, the UK and Australia, with currency defaulting from your country at signup.
