What we promise to do with your data — and what we never will.
Last updated: 3 August 2026
GrownUps is in development. Until the app launches, the part of this that is actually operating is the website — the waitlist form, the contact form and site analytics. The sections describing the app explain how it will handle your information once it is available.
What we do
- We encrypt your information in transit and at rest, and we keep the messages and files in a family’s account encrypted so that our team cannot read them in the normal course of running the service.
- We let you take your data with you. You can export everything in your account, free, forever — and deleting your account is free and real.
- We keep a clear, tamper-evident record of the things that matter — messages, handovers, expense approvals, schedule changes — so you don’t have to keep your own.
- We tell you what we collect and why, in language you can actually read, and we ask before we do anything that needs your consent.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal data, and we never share it for someone else’s advertising.
- We never charge you to keep or export your own record. Getting your data out is free, always.
- We never charge per parent, and we never put security or safety features behind a paywall.
- We never read your private messages for marketing, and we never use them to build a profile of you.
- We never use dark patterns — no pre-ticked consent boxes, no buried settings, no cancellation maze.
Why we say “encrypted” and not “end-to-end encrypted”
Because the honest word matters more than the impressive one. Your messages and files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and each family’s content is encrypted so our team can’t casually read it. But GrownUps is not end-to-end or zero-knowledge encrypted, and we will not claim it is — because the server has to be able to decrypt content to do the things you actually want: show a message to the co-parent it was sent to, produce an export you asked for, and render a formatted report. A product that literally could not read your data could not do any of that. So we tell you the true version: strong encryption, a team that can’t read your messages in daily operation, and a clear line about where that protection ends.
The short version
Your data is yours. We protect it, we don’t sell it, we don’t charge you to leave with it, and we tell you the truth about how it’s handled — including the parts that are less flattering than a marketing page would prefer.
